Job summary

Brunel GmbH NL Hamburg is seeking an experienced Grid Connection Engineer to support offshore wind projects with emphasis on grid compliance and power system studies. The role involves hands-on modeling, stakeholder coordination, and adherence to German grid codes and TSO requirements.

You will review models in PowerFactory/PSCAD, oversee subcontractors, and verify interfaces between TSO, PPC, and SCADA while ensuring alignment with VDE-AR-N 4131 and related standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in offshore wind projects, ideally on the developer side.
• Strong expertise in grid compliance studies (ONAR, NAR, VDE-AR-N 4131) and TSO requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD or comparable tools.
• Solid understanding of PPC, SCADA interfaces, and grid connection concepts.
• Excellent stakeholder and interface management skills, with coordination of multiple parties.
• Fluency in English is required.

Your Tasks

We are seeking an experienced Grid Connection Engineer to support offshore wind projects with a strong focus on grid compliance, power system studies, and technical integration. The role requires hands-on experience with grid connection engineering, stakeholder management, and compliance verification according to German grid codes and TSO requirements. Previous experience with offshore wind developers is considered a key advantage.

• Review and validate power system models using DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, or similar simulation tools.
• Manage and oversee subcontractors performing grid connection, conformity, and design studies.
• Prepare and review ONAR, NAR, and other grid compliance studies and supporting documentation.
• Assess turbine, converter, PPC, and network models to ensure compliance with project and operational requirements.
• Identify compliance gaps, perform technical investigations, and develop corrective solutions through calculations and simulations.
• Define and verify interfaces between TSO, PPC, SCADA systems, and other project stakeholders while ensuring alignment with VDE-AR-N 4131 and grid connection requirements.
