Zusammenfassung

ATMOS Space Cargo GmbH is seeking a GNC Engineer to develop, validate and integrate Guidance, Navigation and Control functions for our PHOENIX spacecraft. You will work closely with Systems Engineering, Avionics and Flight Software to take ownership from design through testing and flight-data analysis.

The role requires a strong foundation in flight mechanics and control theory, and hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python and C/C++.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace engineering, control engineering, robotics, applied mathematics or a comparable technical field.
• 4+ years of professional experience in GNC, flight dynamics or autonomous-control development for spacecraft or safety-critical systems.
• Strong knowledge of flight mechanics, control theory, state estimation, numerical methods and uncertainty analysis.
• Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and C++ or C including simulation, software integration and verification and validation.

Working closely with Systems Engineering, Avionics and Flight Software, you will take ownership from algorithm design through testing and flight-data analysis.

Key responsibilities

• You will develop and validate guidance, navigation and control algorithms for orbital flight, re-entry, descent and recovery.
• You will translate mission objectives into GNC architecture, interfaces, requirements and performance criteria.
• You will build and maintain six-degree-of-freedom simulations and Monte Carlo campaigns to assess performance and robustness.
• You will integrate GNC functions with flight software and support software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop and system-level testing.
• You will analyse test and flight data, resolve anomalies and drive technical decisions with Systems, Avionics, Propulsion and Aerodynamics teams.

Profile required

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace engineering, control engineering, robotics, applied mathematics or a comparable technical field.
• 4+ years of professional experience in GNC, flight dynamics or autonomous-control development for spacecraft, launch vehicles, aircraft or another safety-critical system.
• Strong knowledge of flight mechanics, control theory, state estimation, numerical methods and uncertainty analysis.
• Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and C++ or C including simulation, software integration and verification and validation.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with astrodynamics, atmospheric re-entry, entry-descent-and-landing, propulsion-coupled guidance or aerodynamic vehicles.
• Experience with embedded flight software, spacecraft sensors and actuators,
• Knowledge of the European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS) processes would be helpful.
