• Performs seasonal landscaping and lawn care surrounding buildings, including preparing seedbeds, laying sod, aerating, and mowing lawns using hand and power mowers.
• Determines the watering, feeding, and trimming schedules for flowers, shrubs, and hedges based on weather conditions, soil moisture, and plant growth.
• Sets out, thins, and relocates flowers, shrubs, and small trees, and reproduces plants using standard cutting, rooting, grafting, and layering techniques.
• Calculates and applies correct amounts of fertilizers, and safely administers fungicides, insecticides, and herbicides to control plant diseases, pests, and weeds.
• Prunes trees to remove excess or damaged branches, shapes hedges for a neat appearance, and seals tree wounds with protective coating mixtures.
• Operates a wide variety of hand and power-operated landscaping tools, including seeders, spreaders, edgers, hedge trimmers, shears, and chemical sprayers.
• Conducts basic, on-the-spot structural, plumbing, and electrical helper tasks to assist in the maintenance of surrounding facilities.

A2-5003-5:

• Completed vocational training of at least 30 months in the appropriate trade.
• OR
• 5 years of specialized experience.

A2-5003-6:

• Completed vocational training in the appropriate trade PLUS 2 years experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the Wage Group 5 or equivalent. The applicant must be able to perform the duties independently.
• OR
• 8 years of specialized experience of which 3 years must have been performed at the wage group 5 or equivalent level.
