Job summary

U.S. Army Europe and Africa in Wackernheim, Germany, seeks a skilled driver for large and heavy vehicles on a temporary full-time basis. The role requires operating articulated buses and heavy trucks with strict adherence to safety and load security standards.

You will inspect cargo, maintain trip records, perform routine vehicle maintenance, and may be required to TDY within and outside Germany. Proficiency in English A1 and German B1 is required.

Qualifications

• Must possess German driver\'s license classes B, C and CE.
• Experience with heavy trucks and cargo handling preferred.
• English A1 and German B1 language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Drive large and heavy vehicles, such as articulated buses and truck-trailers that exceed standard dimensions.
• Follow all relevant traffic laws and regulations while operating vehicles.
• Oversee and help with the loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring it is properly secured to prevent damage.
• Check cargo documents and visually inspect the load to ensure the vehicle is not overloaded.
• Drive with extra caution due to the large size and weight of the vehicle and its cargo.
• Keep records of trips and prepare reports in the event of an accident.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on the vehicle, including minor repairs.

  Applicants must be in possession of a German driver's license class B, C and CE, PLUS at least 10 years of occupational experience as a driver of Heavy Trucks.

• This is a temporary full-time position (46.5 hs/week) until the return of the incumbent, but not to exceed 30 September 27.
• If requirement exists, the incumbent of this position is obligated to perform TDY within and outside Germany, shift work, weekend and holiday work.
• On-call duty required.
• Cargo Securing Certificate desired.
• ADR license desired.
• English Language Proficiency Level A1 AND German Language Proficiency Level B1 required.
