Freelance Medical Device Installation Engineer (German Speaking)

Freelance Contract | Frankfurt Region, Germany | September 2026 - January 2027

About the Role

We're partnering with a global leader in medical devices to support the installation of equipment across hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout the Frankfurt region.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing freelance opportunity focused on device installations and reporting. Successful consultants will be responsible for travelling to customer sites across the region, completing straightforward installations, carrying out basic functionality checks alongside the client's local representatives, and documenting the work completed.

This position would suit experienced Field Service Engineers, Installation Engineers, Service Technicians, or Medical Device Technicians who are comfortable working independently and interacting directly with healthcare customers.

Please note: This is a freelance (Freiberufler) contract position and candidates must be able to operate as an independent contractor in Germany.

Key Responsibilities

• Install medical devices at hospitals and healthcare facilities across the Frankfurt region.
• Perform basic functionality checks to confirm equipment is operating correctly following installation.
• Work closely with local customer representatives during the installation process.
• Submit clear and accurate installation reports within 24 hours of each completed visit.
• Ensure all installations are completed to the highest quality standards and in line with project timelines.
• Represent the client professionally when interacting with healthcare customers and stakeholders.
• Travel regularly throughout the Frankfurt region and surrounding areas as required by the project.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Installation Engineer, Service Technician, Medical Device Technician, or similar field-based role.
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
• Reliable, organised, and comfortable working independently.
• Experience managing a field-based schedule and travelling between customer sites.
• Basic technical and IT skills, including connecting equipment to networks and performing simple system checks.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and reporting skills.
• Fluent German is essential.
• Good English communication skills are highly desirable.
• Experience working within medical devices, healthcare technology, diagnostics, laboratory equipment, or other technical industries is advantageous.
• Must be eligible to work as a Freelancer / Freiberufler in Germany.
