Job summary

Flight Centre Travel Group Berlin is seeking a Financial Controller to strengthen financial controls and ensure accuracy across Germany and the Netherlands. You will own month-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, and regulatory support in a fast-paced, international environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in business administration or economics.
• Several years of controlling experience in an international company.
• Solid expertise in financial accounting according to HGB and IFRS.
• Proficiency in German and English; Dutch is a plus.
• MS Excel and MS Office; MS Dynamics desirable.

Responsibilities

• Strengthening financial controls in Germany and Netherlands to minimize write-offs and optimize cost control.
• Uphold group accounting standards and ensure accurate, compliant records.
• Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve issues promptly.
• Ensure timely close of the Trial Balance (Day 4 close).
• Support regulatory reporting and liaise with external auditors.
• Collaborate with finance teams to drive efficiency across the department.
• Produce timely daily, weekly and monthly reports with actionable insights.
• Generate ad-hoc analyses with recommendations for stakeholders.
• Post accruals, prepayments, deferred income and provisions for Germany/Netherlands.

We are looking for a skilled professional to join the team as our Financial Controller in Berlin, Germany.

What you will be doing:

• Strengthening Financial Controls - Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial controls in Germany and Netherlands to minimize write-offs, enhance cost management, and safeguard revenue.
• Ensuring Accuracy & Compliance - Uphold group accounting standards and policies, ensuring all financial records are precise and compliant.
• Owning Balance Sheet Reconciliations - Conduct monthly reconciliations, taking proactive steps to resolve issues and maintain financial integrity.
• Managing Financial Close - Guarantee the timely closure of the Trial Balance, hitting deadlines with precision (Day 4 close).
• Regulatory & Audit Support - Assist in regulatory reporting and collaborate with external auditors to ensure smooth processes.
• Driving Efficiency - Work closely with other finance teams to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency across the department.
• Delivering Insightful Reporting - Produce accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports, ensuring they are both timely and insightful for decision-making.
• Providing Actionable Analysis - Generate ad-hoc reports that not only present data but also offer clear recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Owning Period-End Accounting Entries - Calculate and post accruals, prepayments, deferred income, and provisions for Germany and the Netherlands

• Education: Completed degree in business administration or economics.
• Work experience: Several years of experience in controlling, preferably in an international company.
• Knowledge: Solid expertise in financial accounting according to HGB and IFRS.
• Software: Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel. Experience with MS Dynamics is desirable.
• Language skills: Proficient in German and English (C2 level); Dutch is a plus.
• Personal skills: Strong affinity for numbers, structured working style, accuracy, reliability, and team spirit.
