I’m currently supporting a well-funded, fast-growing renewable energy company that is expanding its operations across Europe. As part of the continued build-up of its German business, they are looking for a (Senior) Financial Controller to join the team in Berlin.

This is a broad, hands-on finance position combining financial controlling, accounting and reporting. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance Germany, you will play an important role in building and developing the German finance function while working within an international organisation.

What you’ll be doing

• Take ownership of a broad range of controlling, accounting and financial reporting activities
• Support the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
• Analyse financial statements and provide meaningful insights into business performance
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
• Work closely with external accountants, auditors and other finance partners
• Ensure accurate financial reporting and high-quality accounting processes
• Help establish and improve finance processes, controls and reporting structures as the German business grows
• Work closely with the Head of Finance Germany on both operational and strategic finance topics
• Collaborate with international Finance teams and support the wider European expansion

What we’re looking for

• Strong foundation in accounting and financial statements, combined with a commercial understanding of controlling
• Experience in audit, accounting, controlling or a similarly broad finance position
• An audit background is particularly interesting – candidates coming directly from a Big Four or other audit/advisory firm who are looking to move in-house are very welcome
• Alternatively, previous Big Four/audit experience followed by an in-house finance role
• Comfortable working in a hands-on and generalist finance position
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Fluent German and English
• Motivated by working in a growing, entrepreneurial and international environment
