Job summary

Industry & Commerce in Berlin is looking for a Finance Manager to lead the German finance function for a PE-backed infrastructure business. You will be the first finance hire in Germany and will partner with local teams to support growth and financial discipline.

You will own capex tracking, month-end close, IFRS reporting to the UK group, and the preparation of HGB statutory accounts, coordinating with tax advisers and auditors.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with international standards knowledge (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or German equivalent such as Steuerberater/Bilanzbuchhalter).
• Experience in renewables, infrastructure or other capex-heavy project environments.
• Strong knowledge of HGB and IFRS.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Big 4 or audit background or progression within a larger company.

Responsibilities

• Track and report capex across German projects, from development through construction, budget against actual, commitments and forecasts to complete.
• Review project contracts, milestone payments and supplier invoices with the project and procurement teams.
• Account for capitalised project costs correctly, through to transfer into fixed assets at commissioning.
• Lead month-end close for the German entities and deliver IFRS reporting to the UK group.
• Prepare HGB statutory accounts and manage local auditors and tax advisers.
• Own cash flow forecasting, aligned to project payments and funding drawdowns.
• Manage VAT recovery on capex and work with advisers on German tax and transfer pricing.
• Maintain strong controls and approval processes for high-value spend.
• Act as finance business partner to the German team and support wider commercial teams.

I am currently partnering with a PE backedInfrastructure company who are expanding across Europe and need a new Finance manager to come and run the German finance function. You will be reporting into the Group Head of Reporting and be the key business partner to the local teams. For this role you will be the first finance hire in Germany and have a lot of responsibility to support a growing PE backed company in the next stage of their growth.

For this role your responsibilities will include:

You will need to be considered:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or the German equivalent, such as Steuerberater or Bilanzbuchhalter), with experience in renewables, infrastructure or other capex-heavy project environments.
• Strong knowledge of both HGB and IFRS, ideally gained in a German subsidiary of an international group.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Previous Big 4 or audit background or shown progression within a larger company and ready for the next step up.
