Qualifikationen

I'm currently supporting a global sensor manufacturer in the search for a customer-focused FAE to join its growing automotive team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with leading automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, supporting the development of innovative sensing solutions for safety, electrification, powertrain and vehicle control applications.

The company designs and manufactures advanced sensing, actuation and electronic technologies for demanding automotive environments. Its products are used across conventional, hybrid and electric vehicle platforms.

The opportunity

As a Field Application Engineer, you will act as the technical link between customers, sales and internal engineering teams. You will help customers select, evaluate and integrate sensor technologies into new and existing vehicle platforms, while supporting projects from early concept through to production.

This role would suit an engineer who enjoys combining technical problem-solving with customer engagement and commercial awareness.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will provide technical support to automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and strategic customers, helping them understand their requirements and select the most appropriate sensor solutions. You will support the integration of position, speed, current and other sensing technologies into automotive applications, working closely with design, product development, manufacturing, quality and sales teams. You will review customer specifications, technical drawings and application requirements, while supporting prototype evaluation, testing, validation and troubleshooting activities. You will also prepare and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations and application reviews, assist with product customisation and co-development projects, and identify new design-in opportunities. Working across the full development cycle, from initial concept through to series production, you will act as the key technical link between the customer and internal engineering teams, with regular travel to customer and company sites across the UK and Europe.

Experience required

• Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or similar.
• Experience in a Field Application Engineer, Application Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer or similar customer-facing technical role.
• Knowledge of automotive sensors, electronics, electromechanical products or embedded systems.
• Experience working with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers or automotive technology customers.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, schematics, drawings and test data.
• Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage with both engineering and commercial stakeholders.
• A structured, proactive approach to customer support and project management.
• Willingness to travel internationally when required.
• Full driving licence.
