Varengold Bank AG in Hamburg is seeking a seasoned HR Generalist to support around 120 staff in a hybrid setup (2–3 days in the office). The role covers day-to-day HR operations, payroll preparation for Hamburg and Sofia, and recruitment from briefing to onboarding.

You will implement practical HR processes, organise staff development, and drive People & Culture projects such as retention and employer branding. Fluency in German and English and a hands-on, independent work style are essential.

Qualifikationen

• Several years' solid professional experience in a generalist HR role.
• Solid experience in day-to-day HR operations, HR administration and payroll preparation.
• Hands-on approach to tackling operational tasks and HR issues.
• Structured, efficient, pragmatic work style with the ability to manage multiple issues.
• High independence and strong sense of responsibility with reliable follow-through.
• Confident in German and English communication.

And this role is correspondingly wide-ranging.

We're looking for someone who really has a firm grasp of HR: operationally sound, quick on the uptake and in implementation, and experienced enough to make decisions independently and drive issues forward.

Hamburg | Hybrid working with face-to-face interaction in the office (2 to 3 times a week)

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Providing independent support to our approximately 120 staff members on all operational HR matters – pragmatically, with a friendly and approachable manner, and on an equal footing
• Handling traditional HR administration such as contracts, contract amendments, certificates and other personnel-related documents
• Preparing the monthly payroll for Hamburg and Sofia and ensuring a smooth process
• Managing recruitment processes for selected positions – from the initial briefing through interviews and selection to the contract and onboarding
• Organising and supporting staff development initiatives; you'll ensure that a good idea is turned into a successful implementation
• Continuously developing and optimising our HR processes with a focus on pragmatic and efficient solutions
• Taking on challenging People & Culture projects and special topics, e.g. in the areas of retention, employer branding or staff development

YOUR PROFILE:

• Several years’ solid professional experience in a generalist HR role
• Solid experience in day-to-day HR operations, HR administration and payroll preparation
• A strong hands-on approach and a genuine enthusiasm for tackling operational tasks just as naturally as more challenging HR issues
• Quick to grasp new concepts and a structured, efficient and pragmatic approach to work – even when dealing with several issues simultaneously
• A high degree of independence and a strong sense of responsibility: you recognise what needs to be done, set the right priorities and reliably see matters through to completion
• Confident communication on an equal footing, as well as very good command of German and English
