Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA) is seeking an EWIS Design Engineer to advance the development of avionics harnesses for aerospace applications in a dynamic, international start-up setting.

You will design, model, and document harnesses, collaborate across disciplines, and ensure compliance with wiring standards for flight and ground tests. Fluency in English is expected, with opportunities to shape cutting-edge space travel technologies.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 2–5 years experience in harness design for aerospace, automotive or high reliability systems.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD and harness modelling tools (Rapid Harness preferred).
• Hands-on experience with formboard design, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of wire harnesses in hardware environments.
• Experience with wiring standards and configuration control.

• Generate and manage BOMs, wire run lists, wiring diagrams, and installation drawings.
• Work with integration teams to validate harness fit, routing, and installation.
• Support functional testing and troubleshooting during vehicle integration and flight readiness campaigns.
• Perform R&D investigations and trade studies to push wire harness design to new boundaries in terms of mass and cost savings.
• Take technical and operational ownership for flight-quality documentation and interface compliance.

Our international and agile team is looking for support from a motivated person as a EWIS Design Engineer (f/m/d). Your Tasks

Your Qualifications

B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.

Relevant experience (2 – 5 years) in harness design for aerospace, automotive or high reliability systems and motivation to

participate in the NEW Space.

Proficiency with electrical CAD and harness modelling tools (Rapid Harness preferred).

Hands-on experience with formboard design, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of wire harnesses in hardware environments.

Experience with industry best-practices, workmanship quality and wiring standards.

You’re disciplined with documentation and understand the value of configuration control, traceability, and design reviews.

You thrive in an environment where autonomy, accountability, and high standards are expected.

Fluent oral and written English skills (all day-to-day activities are performed in English)

Bonus: Experience with Siemens NX Electrical routing

Bonus: Familiarity with electrical load analysis and power distribution sizing

Bonus: Working knowledge of relevant environmental tests and qualification standards (e.g., ECSS, MIL-STD-810, DO-160)
