Rocket Factory Augsburg - RFA in Augsburg, Germany, seeks an EWIS Design Engineer (f/m/d) to join our international team. You will develop electro-mechanical harness designs for avionics in 2D and 3D, and collaborate across disciplines to define requirements and ensure on-time delivery.

Requirements include a B.S./M.S. in Electrical or Mechatronics, 2–5 years harness design experience, proficiency with electrical CAD, and fluency in English.

Qualifikationen

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
• Relevant experience (2-5 years) in harness design for aerospace, automotive or high reliability systems
• Motivation to participate in the NEW Space.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD and harness modelling tools (Rapid Harness preferred).
• Hands-on experience with formboard design, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of wire harnesses in hardware environments.
• Experience with industry best-practices, workmanship quality and wiring standards.
• You're disciplined with documentation and understand the value of configuration control, traceability, and design reviews.
• You thrive in an environment where autonomy, accountability, and high standards are expected.
• Fluent oral and written English skills (all day-to-day activities are performed in English)
• Bonus: Experience with Siemens NX Electrical routing
• Bonus: Familiarity with electrical load analysis and power distribution sizing
• Bonus: Working knowledge of relevant environmental tests and qualification standards (e.g., ECSS, MIL-STD-810, DO-160)

• Create and release electrical schematics to support both flight and ground test designs on schedule.
• Specify and select connectors, backshells, wires, cable jackets, and termination methods to meet mechanical, thermal, and electrical requirements.
• Conduct analysis and physical testing of harnessing systems to evaluate mechanical, thermal and electrical performance.
• Generate and manage BOMs, wire run lists, wiring diagrams, and installation drawings.
• Work with integration teams to validate harness fit, routing, and installation.
• Support functional testing and troubleshooting during vehicle integration and flight readiness campaigns.
• Perform R&D investigations and trade studies to push wire harness design to new boundaries in terms of mass and cost savings.
• Take technical and operational ownership for flight-quality documentation and interface compliance.

Our international and agile team is looking for support from a motivated person as a EWIS Design Engineer (f/m/d).
