You will guide the design from prototype to working hardware, taking final sign-off on critical decisions and coordinating with regulatory and external partners.

You will bring 10+ years in electromagnetic hardware, hands-on lab experience with high-power systems, and proven ability to deliver regulated hardware.

Engineering Lead - Electromagnetic Systems

Own the electromagnetic design of a first-of-kind medical device - and take it from prototype to working hardware.

We are working with a founder-led medical technology company to find a hands-on Engineering Lead to own the electromagnetic and field engineering of their therapeutic platform. This is not an early-stage concept, it's a mature program built on clinically validated technology and a strong IP portfolio, now entering its next critical build phase.

What you'll own

• The magnetic circuit, field shaping and uniformity - plus the modelling, measurement and verification behind it
• Characterisation of an existing baseline system, and definition of the engineering changes needed to evolve it into the new device
• Technical direction across power electronics/controls, mechanical/thermal, and test/verification - with final sign-off on key design decisions
• The prototype build schedule and budget
• Close coordination with regulatory, clinical, and external specialist partners
• Building and mentoring the engineering team as the program scales

What you'll bring

• 10+ years in electromagnetic hardware - MRI/magnet systems, accelerator technology, high-power induction, or high-power RF - with at least one complex system taken from concept to working hardware
• Proven ability to deeply understand an existing complex electromagnetic system and re-engineer it under formal design controls
• Full-system ownership experience: requirements through integration to test, with real accountability for schedule and outcome
• Genuinely hands-on lab experience with high-power/high-voltage hardware and physical performance measurement
• Experience delivering regulated hardware (medical, aerospace, or comparable safety-critical)
• Strong electromagnetic simulation skills, with the ability to correlate simulation against measured results

Nice to have: US medical-device regulatory exposure, a background in medical imaging/therapy hardware, German language, and startup experience.
