We are looking for a talented and experienced Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++) to join our customer’s team in Mannheim / Heidelberg, Germany. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of next-generation IoT and industrial communication solutions for embedded platforms in an international and agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop next-generation embedded software solutions focusing on IoT applications, OPC UA, TSN, and other open communication protocols.
- Develop and maintain software components for new and existing embedded platforms using C/C++ in RTOS-based environments.
- Integrate, validate, and test third-party software and communication stacks.
- Collaborate with software architects to improve and extend complex software systems for future product requirements.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle following agile and model-driven development methodologies.
- Implement and optimize Ethernet-based communication technologies such as TCP/IP, TLS, PTP, and OPC UA.
- Work closely with interdisciplinary and international teams to deliver high-quality and reliable software solutions.
- Support software verification, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization activities.
- Communicate technical concepts and complex issues effectively to stakeholders at different levels.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the adoption of innovative technologies and development practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Communication and Information Technology, or a related field.
- Several years of professional experience in hardware-oriented software development for embedded systems.
- Strong programming skills in C and C++ with hands‑on experience in RTOS environments.
- Knowledge of Python and version control systems, especially Git.
- Experience working with large and complex software codebases.
- Solid understanding of Ethernet communication protocols, including TCP/IP, TLS, and PTP.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to understand and improve existing software architectures.
- Ability to communicate and abstract complex technical topics in both conceptual and practical ways.
- Experience working in agile software development environments.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
Nice-to-Have
- Hands‑on experience with OPC UA and industrial communication technologies.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as IEEE 1588, Time‑Sensitive Networking (TSN), and X.509 certificates.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Jenkins.
- Knowledge of C#, SQL, and software testing frameworks such as GoogleTest.
- Experience with Visual Studio Code and modern software development toolchains.
- Background in industrial automation, industrial networking, or IoT solutions.
- Experience working in distributed international development teams.
- Familiarity with secure communication architectures and embedded networking technologies.
Additional Information
- Full‑time assignment planned until at least the end of 2027.
