T&S (Technology & Strategy) Berlin invites a talented Test Automation Engineer – Communication Systems to join our customer’s team in Berlin, Germany. You will validate and ensure quality of communication management software and network-based systems in a safety-critical environment.

The role focuses on creating automated and manual test cases, extending test frameworks with Python and Pytest, and collaborating with software developers to drive root-cause analysis and quality improvements.

Qualifikationen

• Proven manual and automated software testing experience.
• Hands-on experience with Python and Pytest in test frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of Jira and Xray for test management and defect tracking.
• Solid understanding of Linux environments and the Linux network stack.
• Experience with network analysis and troubleshooting using Wireshark.
• Knowledge of Layer 3 routing concepts and network communications.
• Experience with virtualized environments such as Proxmox.
• Ability to investigate complex software issues with high attention to detail.

We are looking for a talented and motivated Test Automation Engineer – Communication Systems to join our customer’s team in Berlin, Germany. In this role, you will support the validation and quality assurance of communication management software and network-based systems in a safety-critical environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, create, and specify new automated and manual test cases based on system requirements.
• Execute automated test campaigns independently and ensure the continuous maintenance of existing test suites.
• Extend and optimize the existing test framework using Python and Pytest.
• Perform manual testing activities and validate software functionality against defined requirements.
• Analyze system behavior, identify defects, and conduct detailed investigations of software bugs.
• Document defects, test results, and corrective actions in a structured and traceable manner.
• Collaborate closely with software development teams to support issue resolution and root cause analysis.
• Provide transparent reporting of testing progress and quality status to project stakeholders.
• Create and maintain test documentation in Jira and Xray according to established quality standards.
• Support compliance activities related to safety-critical software development standards, including DO-178C.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable qualification.
• Proven experience in manual and automated software testing.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks using Python and Pytest.
• Strong knowledge of Jira and Xray for test management and defect tracking.
• Solid understanding of Linux environments and the Linux Network Stack.
• Experience in network analysis and troubleshooting using Wireshark.
• Knowledge of Layer 3 routing protocols and network communication concepts.
• Experience working with virtualized environments such as Proxmox.
• Ability to investigate complex software issues and document findings with a high level of attention to detail.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience working in safety-critical software environments.
• Knowledge of DO-178C software development and verification standards.
• Experience in certification or regulatory environments, including BSI-related projects.
• Understanding of network security concepts and best practices.
• Experience testing communication management platforms, network services, or distributed systems.
• Knowledge of CI/CD processes and automated testing pipelines.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, transportation, or other highly regulated industries.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
