Job summary

50Hertz Transmission GmbH is seeking a Systems Engineer to advance automation and GitOps within an international IT infrastructure team. You will develop, operate, and optimize automation platforms, provide coaching to teams, and integrate automation into ITSM processes.

Expect collaboration on virtualization, storage, AD, Citrix, and NetApp, with a focus on security, governance, and scalable, reliable platforms. German and English language skills are required; mobile working is possible.

Qualifications

• Completed degree in computer science or similar field.
• Several years of professional experience in a comparable role.
• Experience automating enterprise infrastructures and operating central platforms.
• Strong knowledge of IaC, GitOps, and DevOps concepts with GitLab, Ansible, AAP, Python, and Terraform.
• Good knowledge of VMware, Linux, Windows Server, Active Directory, Citrix or NetApp.
• Experience with API-based integrations and secure, compliant platforms.

In my role as a Systems Engineer, I independently drive knowledge transfer in the field of automation technologies.

• Further develop and standardize the GitOps-based infrastructure approach, and define and implement cross-cutting automation standards, architectural principles, and a unified operating model.
• Develop, operate, and continuously optimize central automation platforms and frameworks based on GitLab, Ansible, Automation Platform (AAP), Python, and Terraform in terms of security, scalability, stability, availability, and user-friendliness.
• Advise, coach, and provide operational support to infrastructure domains in introducing automated operating processes and developing playbooks, roles, modules, and automation solutions.
• Integrate automation processes into existing IT service management and operating processes.
• Evaluate new technologies, methods, and industry trends in infrastructure automation and platform engineering.
• Further develop the automation strategy for virtualization, storage, operating systems, Active Directory, Citrix, and other infrastructure platforms.
• Support the analysis and resolution of complex incidents within the automation platforms as part of 3rd-level support.
• Completed degree or vocational training in computer science or a comparable field, and several years of professional experience in a comparable position, e.g. as a Systems Engineer or Systems Administrator.
• Several years of experience automating complex enterprise infrastructures and building and operating central automation platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of modern Infrastructure-as-Code, GitOps, and DevOps concepts, as well as practical experience with GitLab, Ansible, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), Python, and Terraform.
• Good knowledge of several infrastructure domains such as VMware, Linux, Windows Server, Active Directory, Citrix, or NetApp.
• Experience with API-based integrations and modern infrastructure frameworks.
• Experience developing, standardizing, and documenting technical platforms and processes while taking security, compliance, and governance requirements into account.
• Strong communication skills and problem-solving skills.
• Language skills: Very good German skills (B2/C1) and good English skills (B1).
