Data Center Technician Level 2 – Dispatch

Responsibilities

1. Cleaning tools testing, reporting, install cables or optics for new circuits. Physical cabling, cable management, northbound cabling, (Fiber/Copper/Power).
2. Support network and server teams by assisting with rack and stack and running cables. Planned/Predictive maintenance or circuit migration support.
3. Labelling, patching, and asset tagging activities; perform installation as needed either through physical or network medium.
4. Follow specific task instructions and provide necessary reporting; support via phone, remote tools, or in person onsite.
5. Conduct failure analysis, perform functional testing of the entire system/identify failed component, planned maintenance or circuit migration support.
6. Reseating or swapping new line cards.
7. Making, crimping and testing RJ45 copper cables.

BreakFix/Technical Task List

1. Cleaning fibers, replace faulty optical cable; installing loopbacks, BER testing.
2. Inserting/removing/replacing defective components (linecards, fibers, etc.); assist with fault diagnosis and RMA processing.
3. Configuring remote access, basic storage array configuration, replacing faulty cables.
4. Rebooting linecards, chassis or reseating of cards/optics.
5. Providing loop‑back cables to test circuits remotely, re‑seating or replacing components or cables.
6. Power cycling, and conducting whole unit replacement.

Preferred Skillsets

1. Hands‑on experience in installation and troubleshooting infrastructure (DC & network) equipment, rack and stack.
2. Infrastructure (Data center and network) hardware architecture to understand procedures shared by L3 teams during troubleshooting, HS&E support.
3. Knowledge of Nokia, Ciena hardware.
4. Understanding of ILA hut jobsites.
5. Good understanding of IT principles such as networks, hardware.
6. Fiber/data/copper cable installation and maintenance, including working with MPO fibers.
7. Hands‑on experience in IMAC and break‑fix activities related to infrastructure environment.
8. Ability to identify defective spares and replace them with provided good spares as instructed.

Hands‑on Experience Required

1. Experience in Data Center Network (Fibre, splicing, patching, troubleshooting by tools like OTDR, fibre connector…)
2. Hardware (Access Point, rack and stacking, cable management, MDF survey, NGO migration, wifi survey).
