Zusammenfassung

Timelyne is seeking an experienced field technician in Berlin to install and maintain fibre optic and network cabling within data centres. You will label equipment, inspect connections, and support both hardware and server devices on site.

The role requires hands-on testing with Fluke equipment, strict adherence to safety standards, and the ability to supervise subcontractors. A German driving licence and on-site work capability are essential.

Qualifikationen

• German driving licence is required.
• Manual Handling knowledge.
• Proven experience with fibre optic cabling and data centres.
• Ability to troubleshoot faults with test equipment.
• Experience installing, labeling, testing and cleaning network cables.
• First Aid certification is a plus.
• IPAF working at height qualifications are preferred.

Aufgaben

• Install and label fiber optic and network cables according to customer specifications.
• Inspect and clean fiber connections; verify integrity with test equipment.
• Provide Smart Hands support for network and server hardware.
• Carry out verification and certification measurements using Fluke kits.
• Racking and de-racking devices; power cycle hardware.
• Supervise third party subcontractors on site.
• Inspect equipment status and label inventory with serial numbers/ barcodes.
• Provide 24x7 support as part of a technical rota (day/night shifts).
• Install/replace modular equipment components and cabling.
• Perform RMA/Reverse logistics on hardware components.

Installation of fiber optic and network cables.

Clean and inspect fiber connections.

Label equipment and cables with customer specific designations.

Perform Smart Hands supporton network and server hardware.

Carry out verification and certification measurements (i.e. using Fluke kits).

Providing planned maintenance or circuit migration support.

Troubleshooting hardware problems.

Racking and de-racking of any device.

Power cycling a router, server, switch and soft-booting a server.

Supervise other third party subcontractors.

Inspecting devices to assess equipment status.

Providing loop-back cables in order to test circuits remotely.

Re-seating or replacing components or cables.

Swapping removable storage media.

Installing or replace modular equipment components.

Perform RMA/Reverse logistics on hardware components.

Installing and replacing Fiber Optics or Gigabit Interface Converters.

Labelling/inventory equipment plus digital picture and serial number / barcode scanning.

Provide 24 x 7 support as part of a technical rota - on day and / or night shifts.

Competency: Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications:

Proven experience with Fibre Optic cabling and working in Data Centre.

Ability to troubleshoot faults using various test equipment.

Experience in installing, labelling, testing and cleaning network cables.

Experience and Qualification:

Must be very experienced in general IT software tools and Microsoft Excel.

Demonstrate a flexible approach to the role, with the ability to adapt and react to customer needs.

Demonstrable “hands on” experience with test equipment, network build, etc.
