Job summary

Next Ventures is seeking a Senior D365 F&O Finance Functional Consultant to lead hands-on configuration for PMA and revenue recognition on complex engineering and capital projects. You will translate requirements from finance and operations stakeholders into practical system solutions and ensure alignment with general ledger, AR, and AP processes.

Start ASAP on an initial six-month contract with a planned 12-month extension, predominantly remote with occasional onsite travel to Germany.

Qualifications

• Senior D365 F&O Finance Functional Consultant with hands-on implementation and configuration experience.
• Strong PMA expertise and integration with core finance.
• Proven revenue recognition over time, including work in progress and invoicing.
• Experience with project controlling, budgeting, forecasting and profitability.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on functional expertise across D365 F&O; Finance, PMA and revenue recognition over time.
• Collaborate with finance, project management and operations stakeholders to translate requirements into practical system solutions.
• Review, configure and improve project structures, budgets, forecasts, cost allocation, billing and financial reporting.
• Analyze and configure revenue recognition processes, including WIP and percentage-of-completion calculations.
• Support project controlling, improving visibility of costs, margins, forecast-to-complete and financial performance.
• Assess capital requirements and translate accounting needs into suitable processes and configurations.
• Align project accounting with the wider finance solution (GL, AR, AP).
• Identify gaps, propose practical solutions and draft functional specifications for developments.
• Prepare and execute functional tests, support UAT and resolve issues.
• Support deployment, user adoption and post-go-live stabilisation with clear documentation.

• Working model: Predominantly remote, with occasional onsite travel to Germany when required. Travel is expected to be infrequent.
• Languages: English mandatory; German is a bonus.
• Focus: D365 F&O; Finance, Project Management & Accounting (PMA), project controlling and revenue recognition for complex engineering and capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on functional expertise across D365 F&O; Finance, focusing on Project Management & Accounting (PMA) and revenue recognition over time.
• Work with finance, project management and operational stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into practical system solutions.
• Review, configure and improve project structures, budgets, forecasts, cost allocation, billing and financial reporting.
• Analyse and configure revenue recognition processes, including work in progress and percentage-of-completion calculations where applicable.
• Support project controlling, improving visibility of costs, committed expenditure, margins, forecast-to-complete and financial performance.
• Assess capital requirements and related accounting needs, translating agreed requirements into suitable processes and configuration.
• Align project accounting with the wider finance solution, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
• Identify gaps against standard functionality, recommend practical solutions and prepare functional specifications where developments are required.
• Prepare and execute functional tests, support UAT and investigate accounting or configuration issues through to resolution.
• Support deployment, user adoption and post-go-live stabilisation with clear documentation and practical guidance.
• Listen carefully, challenge constructively and own issue resolution rather than relying on purely theoretical recommendations.

Requirements

• Senior D365 F&O; Finance Functional Consultant with substantial hands-on implementation and configuration experience.
• Strong PMA expertise and understanding of integration with core finance.
• Proven delivery of revenue recognition over time, covering project progress, costs, work in progress, recognised revenue and invoicing.
• Strong knowledge of project controlling, budgeting, forecasting, cost management and project profitability.
• Sector experience in engineering, industrial projects, plant construction or comparable long-term, capital-intensive project environments.
• Practical experience translating complex project accounting needs into workable D365 F&O; configurations.
• Strong finance or accounting background and confidence engaging finance leaders and project stakeholders.
• Experience leading workshops, documenting requirements, supporting testing and resolving functional issues.
• Pragmatic, delivery-focused approach; strong listening skills; ability to work independently and collaborate effectively.
• Fluent English mandatory. German is advantageous but not required.
• Available ASAP and willing to undertake occasional onsite travel to Germany.
