Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Child and Youth Services at Landstuhl, Germany is seeking a supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations of the youth program and ensure safety, quality, and compliance with DoD standards.

The role requires managing staff, conducting performance reviews, and maintaining certifications while supporting the Director in program delivery for youth and families in the CYS facility and surrounding areas.

Qualifikationen

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in child development, early childhood education, elementary or secondary education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or other fields appropriate to the position.
  • For Youth Facilities: The education must have been in youth development, youth administration, secondary education, home economics, physical education, elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position such as directly related behavioral science.
  • Combination of education and experience as stated below in Option 1 & 2: Education: 24 semester hours in the majors stated above or a related field plus appropriate experience.
  • Experience: 12 months experience working in group programs with children/youth with supervisory experience; The McCormick Credential.

This position is located at the Middle School Teen Center in Landstuhl, Germany.

Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee applicable to employees working at least 15 hours per week
  • First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees)
  • Second and Subsequent Child: 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees)

Duties

Help

  • Serves as a first level supervisor for assigned staff and assists the Director in the supervision of the day-to-day operation of the program/activity. The incumbent reports and works directly with the Director with minimum supervision.
  • Assists with providing program oversight and accountability for the performance of employees, the safety of children, and customer needs.
  • Supervises staff to include assigning work, conducting performance reviews, and approving leave. Establishes local performance standards for employees and volunteers using established standards and requirements and rates employees' performance.
  • Ensures facility complies with health, fire, safety, USDA, and program regulatory guidance and standards. Observes program participants and identifies signs of illness, abuse or neglect, emotional distress, and follows mandated reporting protocols.
  • In conjunction with the Director ensures compliance with standards, criteria, and laws to obtain and retain DoD certification and national accreditation. Assists with taking action to implement recommendations or correct deficiencies.

  • Favorably adjudicated background checks are required.
  • Position is subject to immunization requirements as a condition of employment for working with children and youth.
  • Employee is required to obtain appropriate immunization against communicable diseases in accordance with recommendations from the Advisory committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), which includes the influenza vaccine.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and subsequent physicals, thereafter, provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease.
  • Must complete all DoD and Service training requirements within the specified time including orientation, initial, and annual ongoing training requirements, and any required certifications.
  • Must maintain current CPR, First Aid, and Food Handlers certifications.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • The incumbent is required to have mobility necessary to ensure safety of children and youth and engage in repetitive actions such as walking, standing, bending, stooping, and sitting on the floor.
  • The incumbent must have the visual and auditory capabilities to supervise children and youth, to comply with sight and sound supervision requirements and to provide immediate responses when applicable.
  • Tour of duty may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Majority of the work is performed in the CYS facility, including classroom settings, activity areas, and outdoor areas, with occasional indoor and outdoor field trips.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

Education: Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in child development, early childhood education, elementary or secondary education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or other fields appropriate to the position.

For positions in Youth Facilities: The education must have been in youth development, youth administration, secondary education, home economics, physical education, elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled such as directly related behavioral science.

OR one of the following:

Combination of education and experience as stated below in Option 1 & 2:

Option 1:

Education: 24 semester hours in the majors stated above or a related field (see above), plus appropriate experience.

Experience:

  • 1. 12 months experience working in group programs with children/youth as well as demonstrated knowledge in theories and principals of child growth/youth development of which 6 months must be in a supervisory position.
  • 2. The McCormick Credential.

OR

Option 2: A combination of education and experience.

Education: 24 semester hours in the majors stated above or a related field (see above), plus appropriate experience.

Experience: Candidate must also possess all of the following:

  • 1. At least 12 months experience working in group programs with children/youth as well as demonstrated knowledge in theories and principals of child growth/youth development of which 12 months must be in a supervisory position.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":

Do you possess all of the following experience:

  • At least three (3) years of Child and Youth Services (CYS) managerial experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Boys and Girls Club of America.
  • Demonstrated experience working with after school programs.
Education

Proof of education is required at the time of application. Note: Education must be directly related to the position to be filled. General Education courses do not count toward the credit total.
