Job summary

Messer SE & Co. KGaA is seeking a Cooling Water Engineer to join Corporate Engineering in Germany. The role covers design, procurement, installation and commissioning of cooling water equipment, along with optimizing water treatment and coordinating with operations and service providers.

The candidate will analyze water quality, implement corrective actions, and ensure compliance with VDI 2047 and local regulations. English required; German is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Water Technology.
• Experience in cooling water treatment, water chemistry, or industrial utilities.
• Knowledge of corrosion control, biocide management, and instrumentation & control systems.
• Good English communication; German is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and structured, responsible working style.

Responsibilities

• Design, procurement, installation and commissioning of cooling water pumps, heat exchangers and cooling towers.
• Manage and optimize chemical dosing and water treatment systems.
• Conduct water analyses and derive corrective actions.
• Coordinate with production, maintenance and external service providers.
• Prepare operating procedures, risk assessments and technical reports.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., VDI 2047, local environmental regulations).
