The Opportunity

An established international main contractor delivering large-scale mission-critical projects across Europe is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on major data centre schemes in North Rhine-Westphalia.

This is a senior leadership role with full commercial oversight of high-value data centre projects, working closely with the Project Director and senior operational team to protect margin, manage risk and drive financial performance from pre-construction through to final account.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial strategy for large-scale data centre projects.
• Take ownership of cost control, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Provide commercial direction to Quantity Surveyors and commercial teams.
• Act as key commercial advisor to the Project Director.
• Administer and manage contracts (NEC, FIDIC or similar).
• Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks.
• Oversee change control, variations and claims management.
• Ensure contractual compliance across client and subcontract agreements.
• Prepare and present accurate monthly CVRs and forecasts.
• Manage project cash flow and working capital.
• Protect project margin through proactive commercial management.
• Oversee final account negotiations and settlement.

Procurement & Supply Chain

• Lead procurement strategy for major subcontract packages.
• Negotiate terms and manage subcontractor performance commercially.
• Ensure robust subcontract documentation and risk allocation.

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Act as primary commercial interface with the client.
• Lead commercial meetings and reporting sessions.
• Support dispute avoidance and resolution strategies.
