Job summary

Trusted Shops seeks a Cloud Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable AWS infrastructure, collaborating with software engineers and product managers. You will advance automation, IaC, and observability to deliver reliable services and cost-efficient platforms.

The role emphasizes Terraform, CircleCI, and strong scripting in Bash/TypeScript/Python, with a hybrid work model across Cologne/Berlin and a focus on security and FinOps.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on experience designing, building, and operating AWS cloud infrastructure (ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, SQS).
• Strong IaC experience, ideally Terraform.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines, ideally CircleCI.
• Scripting skills in Bash, TypeScript or Python.
• Experience with Docker and AWS ECS; monitoring/observability (CloudWatch, Instana).
• Knowledge of cloud security, FinOps, and governance best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and improve scalable, secure and reliable cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Contribute to introduction, deployment, and operation of new services across their lifecycle.
• Build and maintain reusable IaC components with Terraform and optimize CI/CD tooling.
• Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability standards for operations.

Our solutions provide legal texts, compliance services, and expert support that enable thousands of online shops to operate with confidence. As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and operating secure and scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS. Working closely with software engineers, a Product Manager, and an Agile Coach, you will help shape our cloud platform, enable development teams through automation and Infrastructure as Code, and contribute to a reliable, observable, and cost-efficient cloud environment. Responsibilities • Design, implement, and continuously improve scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure on AWS. • Contribute to the introduction, deployment, and operation of new services and infrastructure capabilities across their lifecycle. • Build and maintain reusable Infrastructure-as-Code components with Terraform and optimize CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling, primarily based on CircleCI. • Help establish and evolve standards for monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability to ensure reliable and efficient operations. • Support cloud governance, AWS resource lifecycle management, cloud cost optimization (FinOps), and cloud security best practices. • Apply AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices to improve automation, delivery speed, and operational efficiency. • Participate in incident response and on-call rotations, while collaborating with internal teams and external hosting providers to ensure reliable operations and maintain supporting infrastructure. • 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and operating cloud infrastructure on AWS - such as ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, SQS, etc.- along with strong expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code, ideally with Terraform • Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation solutions, ideally with CircleCI. • Solid scripting or software development skills in Bash, TypeScript or Python. • Practical experience using AI-assisted and agentic engineering tools in DevOps workflows, combined with the curiosity and ability to evaluate emerging AI capabilities. • Experience with containerized environments using Docker and Amazon ECS. • Strong understanding of monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability concepts (e.g. CloudWatch, Instana), including troubleshooting across applications and infrastructure. • Knowledge of cloud security best practices, AWS governance, FinOps, and experience working with externally hosted environments, complemented by practical experience leveraging AI-assisted engineering tools.
