Darwin Recruitment is seeking a Civil Engineer (m/f/d) to lead civil and structural design and delivery of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Germany. Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years of professional experience in civil or structural engineering.
• Strong knowledge of foundation design, earthworks, drainage, site development and building standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS or equivalent software.
• Fluent German and English communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Develop and review civil and structural designs for BESS, including site grading, drainage, foundations, access roads and equipment platforms.
• Design and coordinate foundations and site layouts for battery containers, inverters, transformers and infrastructure.

• Provide technical support during construction and ensure compliance with design requirements and health & safety regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues and keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Civil Engineer (m/f/d) - Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

About the Role

As a Civil Engineer (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the civil and structural design and delivery of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

You will help transform project sites into safe, buildable and permit-ready developments, covering areas such as site layout, foundations, earthworks, drainage and access infrastructure. Working closely with development, procurement, electrical engineering and construction teams, you will play an important role in delivering projects from concept through to construction.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and review civil and structural designs for BESS projects, including site grading, drainage, foundations, access roads and equipment platforms.
• Design and coordinate foundations and site layouts for battery containers, inverters, transformers and associated infrastructure.
• Manage and coordinate geotechnical investigations, incorporating findings into foundation design, earthworks and wider site development.
• Prepare technical specifications, scopes of work and tender documentation for civil and structural works.
• Support the technical evaluation of EPC and civil contractor proposals, ensuring designs and requirements are clearly defined.
• Coordinate with engineering consultants, contractors, authorities and other project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical support during construction and oversee civil works to ensure compliance with design requirements, applicable standards, permits and health & safety regulations.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to identify and resolve technical issues and ensure projects remain on programme and within budget.

Your Profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of professional experience in civil or structural engineering, ideally within energy, infrastructure, industrial or renewable energy projects.
• Strong knowledge of foundation design, earthworks, drainage, site development and relevant building standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS and/or other relevant civil and structural design software.
• Previous experience with BESS, solar, wind or other renewable energy infrastructure is highly desirable.
• Fluent German and English communication skills.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• A proactive and hands-on approach, with the flexibility to work in a dynamic project environment.
• Willingness to travel to project sites when required.
