Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a Cage Wash and Maintenance Technician for the Speros Discovery & Innovation Institute in Land O’ Lakes, FL. The role focuses on safe operation of autoclaves and sterilization equipment, plus meticulous cage sanitation to support world‑class research.

You will perform daily preventative maintenance, assist with minor repairs, and coordinate supplies. A high school diploma or GED and at least 6 months in related work are required, with physical ability to lift up

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six (6) months of experience in research animal care, cage wash, production/maintenance, or animal husbandry preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in an active, movement-heavy environment.
• A commitment to working effectively in a fast-paced setting and a flexible attitude toward researchers' needs.

Responsibilities

• Operate autoclaves, mechanical washers, and sterilization equipment safely.
• Sanitize cages, water bottles, and research areas daily to maintain cleanliness.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance and minor repairs to keep equipment running.
• Monitor logbooks and biological indicators to verify sanitization efficacy.
• Manage stock of supplies including feed and bedding to support research operations.

Key Responsibilities

Salary Range

$16.91 - $24.64
