Hydro Energy Group is seeking an experienced Grid Connection Expert to support the development and delivery of utility-scale BESS projects in Germany. You will lead grid connection activities and work closely with DSOs, TSOs and internal engineering teams.

You will assess grid requirements, review studies (load flow, short circuit, dynamic), prepare applications and ensure compliance with VDE-AR-N 4110/4120. Fluent German and strong English required.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum 3 years' experience in grid connection, grid integration or power systems.
• Strong experience in the German energy market.
• Experience with BESS projects is highly desirable.
• Fluent German and strong English communication.
• Knowledge of German grid codes and standards (VDE-AR-N 4110/4120).

We are currently supporting a growing BESS business in Germany that is looking for an experienced Grid Connection Expert to support the development and delivery of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

This is an opportunity to join a specialist team working across the German energy storage market, with responsibility for supporting projects through the grid connection process and working closely with network operators, consultants and internal engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support grid connection activities for BESS projects across Germany
• Manage communication with DSOs and TSOs throughout the connection process
• Assess grid connection requirements and identify suitable connection solutions
• Coordinate and review grid studies, load flow, short-circuit and dynamic studies
• Support the preparation and submission of grid connection applications
• Review technical documentation, grid connection offers and network requirements
• Ensure projects comply with relevant German grid codes and technical standards
• Work closely with electrical, engineering, development and project teams
• Support discussions around connection capacity, substations and grid infrastructure
• Identify potential grid constraints and provide technical solutions
• Monitor changes to German grid connection regulations and requirements

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' experience working in grid connection, grid integration, power systems or a related field
• Strong experience within the German energy market
• Previous experience with BESS / Battery Energy Storage Systems is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of German grid connection processes and requirements
• Experience working with DSOs, TSOs or network operators
• Understanding of power system studies such as load flow, short circuit and dynamic analysis
• Knowledge of relevant German grid codes and standards, such as VDE-AR-N 4110 / 4120
• Fluent German and strong English communication skills
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a project-driven environment
• Experience with utility-scale BESS projects
• Knowledge of PowerFactory, PSS/E, PSCAD or similar power system software
• Experience with grid connection applications and technical connection studies
• Experience working with German renewable energy projects, particularly solar, wind or BESS
