Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a senior IT professional to advance the CTS system landscape within a cross-functional product team. You will own system operations and the full software lifecycle, ensuring documentation, patching, access controls and lifecycle compliance in a GxP environment.

Responsibilities include integrating GenAI/LLM solutions, coordinating migrations and collaborating with infrastructure partners, while shaping architecture and security standards for AI-enabled systems

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or related field; master's advantageous but not required
• Hands-on knowledge of IT infrastructure including databases, servers, cloud platforms, networks, interfaces and containerized apps
• Proficiency in at least 3 of: OpenShift/K8S, GitHub, Jira/Confluence, CI/CD, AWS/Azure, Python, TypeScript, ServiceNow, APIs
• Experience with system lifecycle and documentation requirements in GxP environments
• Interest in GenAI/LLM technologies; integrating LLM-based services via APIs and agent/tool-calling patterns
• Knowledge of clinical trial supply processes and CMC is a plus
• Strong communication and global collaboration mindset; English proficiency

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with infrastructure teams and external partners to resolve incidents, implement changes, and coordinate migrations/replacements
• Drive integration of GenAI, LLM and agent-based solutions into the CMC system landscape via interfaces and data integrations
• Shape architecture, operability, security, access management and validation concepts for AI-enabled systems in GxP environments
• Help define and improve architectural and operational standards across the CMC system landscape

Tasks & responsibilities

• In your new role, you will advance the CTS system landscape as part of a cross-functional product team and develop solutions that support the clinical trial supply process.
• You will take ownership of system operations and the full software lifecycle, covering documentation, patching, updates, access controls and lifecycle compliance.
• Working closely with infrastructure teams and external partners, you will resolve incidents and problems, implement system changes, and coordinate migrations, replacements and retirements.
• Furthermore, you will drive the integration of GenAI, LLM and agent-based solutions into the CMC system landscape, including interfaces, data integrations and infrastructure.
• You will play an active role in shaping architecture, operability, security, access management, lifecycle and validation concepts for AI-enabled systems in GxP environments.
• In addition, you will help define and continuously improve architectural and operational standards across the CMC system landscape.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field, along with solid experience in IT. A master's degree is considered an advantage, but not a requirement
• Practical knowledge of IT infrastructure and application environments, including databases, servers, cloud platforms, networks, interfaces and containerized applications
• Proficiency in at least 3 of the following technologies/platforms: OpenShift/K8S/Kubernetes, Bitbucket/GitHub, Jira/Confluence, Jenkins/any other CI/CD, AWS/Azure, Python, TypeScript, ServiceNow, APIs
• Proven track record in system lifecycle and documentation requirements in GxP environments
• Hands-on experience with or strong interest in GenAI/LLM technologies, e.g., integrating LLM-based services via APIs, agent and tool-calling patterns (e.g., MCP), retrieval-augmented generation, and operating such solutions in enterprise environments (CI/CD, containerization, monitoring)
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of clinical trial supply processes and systems (e.g., MES, IRT, packaging & labeling, depot and distribution) and of pharmaceutical development/CMC
• A motivated team player with a global mindset who is passionate about innovative IT solutions and works both independently and collaboratively
• Strong communication and presentation skills in English
