Navalis Shipping GmbH offers an apprenticeship as a Shipping Merchant (m/f/d) with a focus on tramp shipping. You will gain hands-on training in forest products and container shipping, plus spot market planning.

Starts on 1 August 2027 and lasts 3 years, combining practical company training with school-based theory in Hamburg. You will learn crew planning through our crewing partner and improve English through international interactions.

Qualifications

• Good secondary school diploma, Fachhochschulreife or Abitur.
• Good knowledge of English and geography.
• Interest in shipping-related topics; reliability, flexibility, teamwork and initiative.

Apprenticeship as a Shipping Merchant (m/f/d) – Tramp Shipping

Your mission:

You can expect a varied and hands-on training programme covering the areas of forest products shipping, container shipping and the spot market. As part of your dual training, you will gain insights into all tasks related to the planning and organisation of international sea and project transportation.

Within our group of companies, Schiffahrtskontor tom Wörden is part of the organisation, where you will gain insight into the technical and administrative aspects of shipping operations. At our crewing company Manx Ocean, you will gain experience in crew planning.

Shipping is an inherently international business. Therefore, you will have the opportunity to improve your English skills and communicate with a wide range of international partners.

The apprenticeship as a Shipping Merchant (m/f/d) starts on 1 August 2027.

Duration: 3 years

Combination of practical training at the company and theoretical training at vocational school

Vocational school: Block instruction in Hamburg (6 weeks per semester)

• Good secondary school diploma, advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife) or Abitur
