Job summary

EquiTalent is seeking an AI & Automation Engineer within its finance function to build new AI and automation solutions. The role focuses on production-ready automation, not reporting, with data foundations already in place (SSAS cubes, Power BI dashboards, an internal data warehouse, automated reporting).

You will lead initiatives on automated anomaly detection and AI-assisted month-end close, leveraging LLMs and AI agents while maintaining deterministic logic where appropriate.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering or BI with a focus on automation and AI rather than reporting
• At least one automation solution brought into production with reliable operation, error handling, monitoring and documentation
• Strong Python and SQL; hands-on experience with SSAS or multidimensional models and Power BI
• Practical experience using LLMs and AI agents in business processes and good judgement about where they make sense
• Strong commercial curiosity: understand why a number moved before writing a rule
• Clear communicator who enjoys enabling others
• Fluent German and English

Responsibilities

• Take agent-based analysis and LLMs into production where they add real value, and choose deterministic logic where that’s the better option
• Design and calibrate data monitoring rules with the finance business partners
• Build tools the finance team can use independently
• Interpret findings, assess their impact, and discuss actions with controlling and management
• Help shape the tech stack and budget

EquiTalent is partnering with a leading, PE-backed digital consumer platform headquartered in Munich to appoint an AI & Automation Engineer within its finance function.

The business

A market-leading digital platform working with hundreds of major consumer brands, with a strong presence across Germany and Europe and a clear growth trajectory.

The role

This is a newly created position reporting directly to the Head of Finance. The focus is on building new AI and automation solutions, not maintaining existing reports. The data foundations are already in place: SSAS cubes, established Power BI dashboards, an internally owned data warehouse and largely automated reporting.

You will lead two initiatives:

• Automated anomaly detection: a rules engine that systematically flags unusual patterns in daily data across all channels and sources
• AI-supported month-end close: an intelligent model that takes over recurring review steps, from reconciliations and plausibility checks to variance analysis, learning from historical closes what is normal and what needs explaining

Nice to have

experience in retail, e-commerce or vouchers/payments; knowledge of month-end close and reporting; experience with large data volumes.
