Sovos is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to scale and run our database infrastructure powering tax compliance for 100,000+ customers in 100+ countries. You will lead performance, security, and availability of enterprise SQL Server environments, mentor junior DBAs, and drive high-availability and DR strategies across global SaaS applications.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of hands-on Database Administration experience.
• Fluent English, written and verbal.
• Availability to attend the office once a week in Condesa, CDMX.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning with deep database internals.
• Solid experience with SQL Server environments.

Responsabilidades

• Serve as a subject matter expert for critical database technologies, leading resolution of complex incidents and performance issues across SQL Server mainly.
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning solutions to optimize query response times and throughput.
• Collaborate with software engineers and tech leads to review query designs and schema changes for efficiency and scalability.
• Lead patches, upgrades, migrations with minimal downtime, including backups, high-availability and DR testing.
• Mentor junior DBAs and application teams, promoting database best practices.
• Collect and analyze performance data and provide recommendations for system improvements.
• Communicate database health and risks clearly to stakeholders.
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling to streamline monitoring and operations.

The Work You'll Do

At Sovos, we manage and scale the database infrastructure that powers tax compliance for more than 100,000 customers across 100+ countries. As a Senior Database Administrator, you'll be a hands-on technical leader responsible for the performance, security, and availability of our enterprise database environments — keeping mission-critical SaaS applications running at their best.

More specifically, you will:

• Serve as a subject matter expert for critical database technologies, leading resolution of complex incidents and performance issues across SQL Server mainly
• Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning solutions to optimize query response times and system throughput
• Collaborate with software engineers and tech leads to review query designs and schema changes, ensuring efficiency and scalability prior to deployment
• Lead the implementation of patches, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime, including backup/recovery strategies, high-availability setups, and disaster recovery testing
• Mentor and support junior DBAs and application teams, driving adoption of database best practices across the organization
• Collect and analyze performance metrics and provide intelligent recommendations for system improvements
• Communicate database health, maintenance status, and potential risks clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling and automation to streamline monitoring, root cause analysis, and operational workflows

What We Need From You

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field — or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of hands-on Database Administration experience
• Fluent English, written and verbal
• Availability to attend the office once a week (Condesa, CDMX)
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills with a deep understanding of database internals
• Solid, hands-on experience with SQL Server environments
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Product and Technology teams and influence peers to adopt best practices
• Ability to manage multiple projects, support tickets, and team goals simultaneously
• Comfort working with AI tools to improve productivity and operational efficiency
