Job summary

AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to operate and enhance a Snowflake-based data platform within a regulated healthcare environment.

You will own day-to-day operations, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive improvements across ingestion, orchestration, and downstream analytics. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in data engineering, strong Snowflake/dbt experience, AWS data services, and Kubernetes-based orchestration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional data engineering experience.
• Snowflake data layer design, performance, access patterns, and troubleshooting.
• Advanced SQL and strong dbt experience for transformation, testing, documentation, lineage, and controlled deployment.
• Experience operating managed ingestion tools such as Fivetran or HVR and supporting custom data pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services, particularly S3 and event/file-based ingestion patterns.
• Experience orchestrating data workloads with Argo Workflows on Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering, automation, and tooling.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, dependencies, schema evolution, backfills, data validation, and production data quality.
• Experience with observability, logging, alerting, and incident-management practices for production data platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to lead incident resolution, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive improvements.
• Ability to make technical tradeoffs, estimate work, and guide platform improvements.
• Experience mentoring engineers and collaborating with Cloud/DevOps, Analytics, Security, Governance, and business stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills and ability to work with client stakeholders.
• Full availability to work from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific Time and participate in an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical ownership for the Data Platform during LatAm coverage window, including day-to-day operations and L2/L3 escalation.
• Operate and improve Snowflake production and non-production environments, including configuration, performance, and lifecycle management.
• Administer data access with least-privilege controls and audit-ready practices.
• Manage data ingestion across Fivetran/HVR and custom pipelines, including scheduling, onboarding, and failure recovery.
• Design, build, and maintain reliable pipelines and dbt models across RAW, CURATED, and CONSUMPTION layers with testing and lineage.
• Support AWS S3 data-lake operations, including lifecycle controls and downstream Snowflake coordination.
• Coordinate with Cloud/DevOps for Argo Workflows and Kubernetes-hosted workloads.
• Define and improve data quality and observability standards and checks.
• Expand end-to-end monitoring and lineage with tools like SYNQ, dbt, Snowflake audit data, Splunk, and alerts.
• Lead or support major data incidents with root-cause analysis and preventive actions.
• Support Tableau Cloud operations where data source connectivity or refresh fails require investigation.
• Identify opportunities for standardization, automation, reliability, and cost improvements.
• Execute service-management processes for incidents, requests, changes, and releases.
• Create and maintain runbooks, procedures, and recovery documentation.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and ensure effective handoffs across the distributed team.
• Participate in Data Platform on-call rotation outside staffed hours.
