Job summary

Lean Tech in Medellín, Colombia seeks a Senior AI Engineer to build a data warehouse interface for natural-language and structured queries. You will ground responses in real warehouse data to avoid hallucinations and support appraisal-related questions.

The role emphasizes hands-on LLM engineering, retrieval, grounding, evaluation, and seamless integration with Azure OpenAI and data services. LATAM exposure welcomed.

Qualifications

• 5 years of software or ML engineering experience with hands-on work on LLM-powered applications.
• Experience building RAG / retrieval-augmented systems with embeddings and vector search.
• Strong understanding of reducing hallucinations via grounding, prompts, guardrails and evaluation.
• Solid ML fundamentals: training and evaluation concepts.
• Experience with a data warehouse in Azure and writing efficient SQL.
• Hands-on experience with Azure AI stack and deploying services.
• Ability to integrate LLM APIs into production systems (Claude or Azure OpenAI).
• Ability to build evals and reason about correctness, not just fluency.

Responsibilities

• Build the interface between the LLM and the Data Warehouse for natural-language and structured queries.
• Design retrieval/RAG pipelines grounding model responses in warehouse data.
• Reduce hallucinations through retrieval, prompt design, guardrails and validation.
• Develop evaluation harnesses and test sets with appraisers to measure accuracy.
• Develop the query layer translating questions into safe, correct queries (e.g., NL-SQL).
• Collaborate with appraisers to encode appraisal logic into prompts and evaluation criteria.
• Monitor model performance in production and iterate on quality, latency, and cost.
