Cadre AI is seeking a Director of AI Engineering in Colombia to lead a small team of engineers while staying hands-on with the toughest problems and ensuring delivery that aligns with client outcomes and strategic priorities.

You will shape technical direction, own end-to-end delivery across multiple client engagements, and partner with the Head of AI Engineering to evolve Cadre's engineering capability. This role rewards growth of people and systems at the intersection of strategy and code.

Formación

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years building LLM-powered systems in production environments at a consulting firm, agency, or client-services org.
• Proven people management: direct reports, hard feedback, performance conversations, measurable improvement.
• Track record delivering across multiple concurrent client engagements with timely, high-quality outputs.
• Expert-level Python, NodeJS, and full-stack fundamentals with good judgement on when to adopt new tech.
• Production cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure) managing deployment, monitoring, and operations.
• Deep knowledge of the modern AI stack: prompts, embeddings, vector search, agent orchestration, LLM API integration.
• Ability to move fluently between code reviews, 1:1s, client architecture walkthroughs, and strategic planning.
• Based in Colombia with reliable overlap with US business hours for collaboration.
• AI-first working style and daily tool use to multiply output.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and develop a team of 3 to 5 Colombia-based engineers, owning growth, performance, and retention.
• Set team quality standards for code, architecture, and delivery practices.
• Conduct structured 1:1s, provide feedback, and create growth plans for promotable engineers.
• Partner with Head of AI Engineering on hiring, capacity planning, and Colombia team scaling.
• Own end-to-end delivery across multiple client engagements, managing timelines and risks.
• Identify and resolve delivery risks early; protect the team from scope creep while maintaining client trust.
• Maintain visibility into each engineer's work and its alignment to client commitments.
• Ensure clean handoffs between engagements and phases to minimize rework.
• Stay hands-on with high-stakes builds (agentic systems, multi-step pipelines, core integrations).
• Contribute to Cadre's internal standards: production toolkit, model eval, and cross-engagement patterns.
