Value Added Staffing is looking for an Intermodal & Truckload Logistics Coordinator to support both Truckload Freight and Port/Rail Drayage operations. This role is ideal for someone early in their logistics career who wants hands-on exposure across multiple freight modes while learning how a high-performing brokerage operates.
You will support daily execution from quoting through delivery, working closely with carriers, customers, ports, railroads, and internal teams to ensure freight moves efficiently, on time, and within cost expectations.
What You’ll Do
- Support daily execution of Full Truckload, partial options, and port/rail drayage shipments
- Assist with quoting, dispatching, routing, and load board management to ensure proper coverage
- Carrier sourcing and networking for all assigned or requested lanes in Truckload or Drayage
- Evaluate all freight to determine best-fit modes and service offerings
- Track shipments and proactively communicate status updates, delays, and resolutions
- Provide clear logistical instructions to drivers and carrier dispatchers
Carrier & Partner Communication
- Communicate with truckload carriers, drayage partners, ports, railroads, and dispatch teams
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with carrier partners
- Assist with exception handling and service recovery when issues arise
Operational Support & Cost Control
- Monitor accessorials, detention, chassis, port/rail billing, and related charges
- Assist with port/rail billing and ensure correct pricing and routing are applied
- Support compliance items such as PODs, invoices, and carrier documentation
- Escalate issues appropriately while helping drive solutions
Customer & Internal Collaboration
- Support assigned customers with shipment updates and operational needs
- Work closely with internal Sales, Operations, and Accounting teams
- Maintain clean, accurate records in the TMS (orders, tracking, documentation)
Market & Growth Exposure
- Assist with lane reviews, pricing feedback, and market observations
- Learn truckload and port/rail drayage market dynamics, capacity trends, and best practices
- Develop a strong foundation for future growth into operations, carrier management, or leadership roles
What We’re Looking For
- 0–2 years of experience in logistics, freight brokerage, truckload, intermodal, or drayage (internships welcome)
- Strong communication skills and comfort working with carriers and customers
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail with strong follow-through
- Willingness to learn multiple freight modes and operational workflows
- Familiarity with TMS systems, load boards, or port/rail concepts is a plus (not required)
