ABOUT US

Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non‑governmental organization. We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through unarmed civilian protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence and protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath and to help transform the world’s response to conflict situations.

JOB PURPOSE

The Programme Impact Analyst & Consortium Manager (PIAC) plays a pivotal role in analysing the impact as well as providing technical oversight and guidance to a 1‑year project that NP will be implementing together with a research partner and a training and learning partner on protecting civilians from violence. NP’s primary role in the consortium is the direct implementation of civilian protection programming in Myanmar, along with the analysis and articulation of its process and impact/outcomes. The PIAC Manager will support the NP team in Myanmar with the collection and analysis of relevant data, articulating impact, and facilitating learning across partners. Approximately 50‑60% of the role will focus on impact analysis and 40‑50% on overall consortium management.

This position collaborates closely with NP’s Myanmar programme, the global programming and advocacy teams, and two consortium partners leading on research and training and learning. Tasks involve the monitoring of project implementation, adherence to deliverables, budgets, and commitments, as well as fostering regular dialogue and reflection between consortium partners and relevant stakeholders. It requires both strong analytical skills and the ability to coordinate a multi‑stakeholder initiative to ensure coherence, timely implementation, and strategic reflection.

NP in Myanmar as well as the two consortium partners will manage their own project autonomously, which provides the PIAC Manager the time to focus on impact analysis.

KEY OBJECTIVES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the design and implementation of action plans to gather, analyse, and articulate relevant data and case studies that demonstrate the functioning and impact of unarmed and nonviolent approaches to civilian protection.
  • Lead the tailoring and implementation of the Peace Impact Framework into NP’s work in Myanmar (and the broader region) to capture the broader impact of the project in meaningful partnership with communities and relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support to project staff in Myanmar (and the broader region) on community‑based/led impact analysis methodologies, tools, and processes, fostering a culture of data‑driven decision‑making and learning.
  • Lead reflection and learning initiatives within and between NP country programme, NP’s global programming team, consortium partners and with key stakeholders to articulate and promote continuous learning about unarmed and nonviolent approaches to protection.
  • Liaise with NP’s Impact Analyst and Programme Manager of a likeminded global project to identify opportunities for cross‑learning and comparative analysis.
  • Support the Global Programme team in refining and implementing NP’s global MEAL strategy.
  • Work with NP’s Global Policy and Advocacy team, NP’s Impact Analyst and consortium partners to translate impact data into persuasive policy and advocacy narratives and outputs for external stakeholders.
  • Represent NP and/or the consortium in relevant coordination, advocacy, and governmental meetings/fora as needed.
  • Explore opportunities to streamline the efforts between consortium partners as well as connect existing and emerging networks, communities of practice and learning institutes on the issue of unarmed and nonviolent approaches to civilian protection.
  • Lead the consortium partners in strategising the continuation or expansion of the project and identifying opportunities for resource mobilisation.
  • Lead and provide technical oversight and guidance to ensure coherence, project implementation is in line with project goals and donor requirements and NP's global mission.
  • Ensure timely reporting of findings to consortium partners, donor, and other stakeholders, highlighting successes, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Coordinate the submission of accurate, timely narrative and financial reports to the donor, ensuring compliance and managing the response to feedback.
QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills, attributes and experience:

  • Degree level education (postgraduate degree or equivalent professional experience preferred) in International Affairs, Development, Political Science, or other related fields.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a mid‑level humanitarian or development position, with project management and budget holder responsibilities.
  • Experience managing cross‑country grants and/or consortium strongly preferred.
  • A keen understanding of civilian protection, humanitarian and peacebuilding discourse is required.
  • At least three years professional experience designing and implementing MEAL systems for complex, multi‑country projects.
  • Strong experience with community‑level participatory research and MEAL methods.
  • Demonstrated experience of impact analysis, research and learning.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working in Myanmar or Southeast Asia.
  • Experience linking impact and learning to policy advocacy.
  • Prior experience living and working in complex protection crisis environments.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Sound personal organisational skills, including excellent time management, ability to meet deadlines, prioritise tasks, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Culturally sensitive, thrives in diverse teams, and able to sensibly navigate interpersonal and inter‑departmental dynamics to keep focus on common goals.
  • Must be willing and able to travel.
  • Adaptability, resourcefulness, pro‑activity, and the commitment to work within a small, flexible team.
  • Excellent analytical skills, presentation, communication and reporting skills, and proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential, with demonstrated outstanding writing skills.
COMMITMENT TO NP PRINCIPLES
  • Demonstrate a commitment to NP’s mission and vision.
  • All NP employees are expected to work in accordance with the organization’s guiding principles:
    • Nonviolence

HOW TO APPLY
  • Candidates meeting the above requirements are requested to submit a CV (max. 2 pages) and cover letter (max. 1 page) detailing their experience and how they qualify for the role. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • The closing date for applications is 8th January 2025 (applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis).
  • Candidates may be selected before the closing date; apply early.
