Job summary

RenaissanceRe is seeking a VP, Construction & Engineering in Zurich to lead production, marketing and analysis of Swiss specialty reinsurance business. The role requires deep construction and engineering underwriting expertise, established broker and client relationships, and the ability to drive business development across Europe with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; actuarial qualification preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the construction and engineering (re)insurance industry.
• Established relationships with senior clients and brokers in the construction and engineering (re)insurance markets.
• In-depth knowledge of construction and engineering portfolio management and risk assessment practices.
• Proven ability to design, build and apply complex risk models and systems.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Solid understanding of reinsurance structures and risk transfer mechanisms.
• Willingness and ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of a profitable book of business and handle day-to-day underwriting.
• Manage the specialty portfolio in Zurich and support risk analysis.
• Build and manage client and broker relationships.
• Share market insights with team members, including emerging opportunities and threats.
• Maintain expert product knowledge and act as a resource for clients and colleagues.
• Identify, design, and drive marketing synergies, by developing creative solutions to client problems.
• Make full use of RenaissanceRe risk and underwriting tools and analytics, and strengthen the risk management culture within the team.
• Maintain ongoing, self-directed professional development and study.
