Job summary

ABB in Switzerland is seeking a Customer Application Engineer to drive application expertise for the Critical Power portfolio. You will bridge customers, Sales, Product Management, and R&D to translate market needs into technical solutions and contribute to future product innovations and business growth.

You will build standards, tools, and reference architectures while collaborating across Sales, PM, and Agile Units to capture market trends and customer requirements for strategic growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems, or a related field.
• >5 years in Critical Power, UPS systems, Energy Storage, Power Conversion, or related applications.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into differentiated technical solutions and value propositions.
• Experience supporting Sales through technical consulting and customer engagement.
• Experience developing standards, methodologies, tools, and best practices within a technical org.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across customers, channel partners, Sales, PM, and R&D.
• Knowledge of international standards and regulations (Grid Codes, utility operator requirements such as NERC, ERCOT, Fingrid, IEEE 2800).

Responsibilities

• Build and develop expertise in customer applications and value propositions for the Critical Power portfolio.
• Develop and maintain standards, methodologies, tools, reference architectures, and reusable frameworks.
• Act as SME for strategic customer applications across Sales, PM, R&D and Agile Units.
• Capture market trends and customer needs and translate into actionable insights for growth and product development.
