Job summary

ABB is seeking a Customer Application Engineer to drive expertise across the Critical Power portfolio and bridge customers with Sales, Product Management, and R&D.

You will translate market needs into technical solutions, develop standards and reusable architectures, and support growth across channels while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in Critical Power, UPS systems, Energy Storage, Power Conversion, or related applications.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into differentiated technical solutions and customer value propositions.
• Experience supporting Sales with technical consulting and channel enablement.
• Knowledge of international standards and regulations (Grid Codes, utility requirements).

Responsibilities

• Build and develop expertise in customer applications, solution architectures, market segments, and customer value propositions for the Critical Power portfolio while supporting Sales with fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Develop and maintain standards, methodologies, tools, best practices, reference architectures, and reusable application frameworks to ensure consistency and engineering excellence.
• Act as a subject matter expert for strategic customer applications, fostering collaboration across Sales, Product Management, and R&D.
• Capture market trends, customer needs, and application requirements, translating them into actionable insights that support business growth and future product development.
