LHH partners with a Zurich-based organization to hire a Senior Test Manager (m/f/d) for a large Mainframe-to-Linux migration program. You will design and drive the end-to-end testing strategy, lead SIT, UAT and non-functional testing, and mentor a small test team within a global delivery setup.

You will collaborate with architects, developers and senior stakeholders in an Agile/SAFe environment. The role offers hybrid work (up to 20% remote) in Zurich, start 01.10.2026 and end 01.03.2027.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience as a test manager on complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, especially unit and functional testing.
• Proven track record delivering testing workstreams for migration projects (Mainframe to Linux preferred).
• Experience in defining and executing end-to-end test strategies (SIT, UAT, non-functional).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder alignment.
• Experience in Agile/SAFe environments.
• English required; German or Spanish is a plus.

We are partnering with a leading organization in Zurich to recruit an experienced Senior Test Manager (m/f/d) for a large-scale and business-critical Mainframe to Linux migration program. In this role, you will operate at the intersection of business and technology, collaborating with international, cross-functional teams and engaging senior stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and sustainable organizational transformation.
As the Senior Test Manager, you will be responsible for defining and executing the overall testing strategy across a complex transformation landscape. You will lead all testing activities throughout the project lifecycle, coordinate multiple test phases, monitor progress, manage risks and dependencies, and provide clear reporting to senior project leadership. You will also play a key role in fostering effective collaboration among business, technology, and external delivery teams.
This position requires a highly experienced Test Manager with a proven track record of successfully delivering testing workstreams within complex transformation and migration programs. Experience working in Agile and SAFe environments is essential.
You will work within a globally distributed organization, partnering closely with teams located in Switzerland, Poland, and India, and will contribute to one of the most significant technology transformation initiatives in the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Test Concept Definition
  • Develop and document a detailed testing strategy tailored to the complex migration from mainframe assembler applications to the target landscape on Java/SQL under Linux.
  • Identify and integrate various testing methodologies (unit-, functional and comparison testing) into the testing framework.
  • Define and integrate appropriate testing tools (e.g. like X-Ray)
• Test Execution Orchestration
  • Coordinate and oversee the execution of testing activities, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
  • Support the test execution process across multiple testing phases, including planning, environmental setup, execution, and reporting.
• Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Act as the primary liaison between project stakeholders, including architects, developers, and project management teams.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration to ensure alignment on testing objectives and deliverables.
• Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a small test team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Assess resource needs and assist in the hiring and training of team members as the project scales.
• Quality Assurance Oversight
  • Monitor and report on testing progress, defects, and overall quality metrics to stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
• Documentation and Reporting
  • Produce comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test reports.
  • Provide regular updates and status reports to senior project management and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in complex projects as a test manager
• Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, particularly in unit testing and functional testing.
• Proven track record delivering testing workstreams for complex migration projects, ideally Mainframe modernization or Mainframe-to-Linux migrations
• Strong expertise in defining and executing end-to-end test strategies, including System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and non-functional testing
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect easily with all project stakeholders.
• Experience in Agile methodologies
• Languages: English. German or Spanish is nice to have requirement.
