Job summary

Thema Consulting is seeking a Senior System Engineer to join a small, highly skilled ICT team responsible for designing, operating and improving hybrid IT infrastructure and the MasterFinance platform at client sites. The role emphasizes Windows/Linux management, virtualization (Hyper-V/VMware), cloud services, backup and DR, and ongoing hardening and modernization.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years’ experience in enterprise infrastructure, strong scripting (PowerShell/Bash), networking knowledge

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a System Engineer in small-mid teams.
• Solid experience in Windows Server administration, virtualization, storage and enterprise infrastructure management.
• Experience with hardware installation and maintenance in enterprise server environments.
• Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows and Linux environments.
• Experience with Hyper-V or VMware virtualization platforms.
• Experience with PowerShell and/or Bash scripting.
• Knowledge of networking concepts (OSI model, TCP/IP, switching, VLANs, routing and firewall fundamentals).
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux hardening, patch management, vulnerability remediation and basic cybersecurity concepts.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
• Knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) and SQL (Oracle or PostgreSQL preferred).
• Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.
• Strong teamwork, patience, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently.
• Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
• Fluent in Italian and English.

The Role

You are taking over an important Senior System Engineer role within a leading solutions provider for Treasuries and Capital Markets divisions of banks and corporates.

You will join a small and highly skilled ICT team responsible for designing, operating and continuously improving the company's hybrid IT infrastructure, supporting both internal services and the proprietary MasterFinance platform deployed at customer sites.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage Windows Server and Linux infrastructures


• Manage virtualization platforms (Hyper-V)


• Administer Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID and endpoint management solutions


• Manage and support cloud services (Microsoft Azure / AWS)


• Manage backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions


• Participate in infrastructure hardening and vulnerability remediation


• Participate in infrastructure modernization initiatives and technology improvement projects

Profile Requirements

• 5+ years as a System Engineer in small-mid teams

• Experience with monitoring and logging platforms is appreciated
