THEMA Consulting | MasterFinance for Treasury & Risk in Lugano, Switzerland seeks a Senior System Engineer to take over an important role in designing, operating and improving a hybrid IT infrastructure supporting internal services and the MasterFinance platform deployed at customer sites.

You will join a skilled ICT team responsible for the ongoing modernization of infrastructure, virtualization, cloud services and documentation to ensure high availability and security.

The Role

You are taking over an important SeniorSystem Engineer role within a leading solutions provider for Treasuries and Capital Markets divisions of banks and corporates.

You will join a small and highly skilled ICT team responsible for designing, operating and continuously improving the company's hybrid IT infrastructure, supporting both internal services and the proprietary MasterFinance platform deployed at customer sites.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage Windows Server and Linux infrastructures
• Manage virtualization platforms (Hyper-V)
• Administer Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID and endpoint management solutions
• Manage and support cloud services (Microsoft Azure / AWS)
• Manage backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions
• Participate in infrastructure hardening and vulnerability remediation
• Participate in infrastructure modernization initiatives and technology improvement projects
• Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures

Profile Requirements

• 5+ years as a System Engineer in small-mid teams
• Solid experience in Windows Server administration, virtualization, storage and enterprise infrastructure management
• Experience with hardware installation and maintenance in enterprise server environments
• Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows and Linux environments
• Experience with Hyper-V or VMware virtualization platforms
• Experience with PowerShell and/or Bash scripting
• Knowledge of networking concepts (OSI model, TCP/IP, switching, VLANs, routing and firewall fundamentals)
• Knowledge of Windows hardening, patch management, vulnerability remediation and basic cybersecurity concepts
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and/or AWS
• Knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) and SQL (Oracle or PostgreSQL preferred)
• Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills
• Strong teamwork, patience, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently
• Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills
• Fluent in Italian and English

Nice to Have

• BSc or MSc in Computer Engineering/Science or related field
• Experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g., Tomcat, Apache, NGINX)
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 Administration
• Basic software development or automation experience
• Experience with automation and infrastructure scripting
• Experience with monitoring and logging platforms is appreciated

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
• Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300)
• Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102)
• RHCSA or LPIC Linux certification
• CompTIA Security+
• Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)
• Equivalent certifications or demonstrable professional experience will also be considered.
