Job summary

Hitachi Energy AG in Switzerland seeks a Senior System Engineer (SCADA) to design, implement, and integrate SCADA solutions for high- and medium-voltage substations. You will own projects, coordinate interfaces, and support commissioning in Switzerland, driving innovations for smart grid deployments.

You will work in an international environment, collaborating with engineering, management, and customers to deliver robust automation systems and compliant testing procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a comparable technical qualification.
• 5+ years of experience in power automation or substation automation, SCADA, or RTU systems.
• Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols, network architectures, and cybersecurity.
• Experience with IEC 61850-based systems and integration of protection, control, and automation systems.
• Experience in technical project coordination, customer consulting, FAT, commissioning, and/or customer training.
• Excellent English language skills; German is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement SCADA systems for substations (IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104/101/103) and other protocols.
• Develop system and network architectures and integrate RTU/gateway/protection/automation into complex plant environments.
• Configure Ethernet-based networks and implement project-specific functionalities.
• Execute system, integration, and FAT tests to ensure high quality.
• Support commissioning and service interventions in Switzerland; troubleshoot complex issues.
• Take technical ownership and advise customers on automation solutions.
• Collaborate with project management, sales, suppliers, and engineering teams.
• Prepare technical specifications, system concepts, test documentation, and operation manuals.
• Contribute to engineering standards and best practices in substation automation.
