Job summary

Viseca Card Services AG in Zürich is seeking a hands-on Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer & Technical Lead to own the design, operation and continuous improvement of our enterprise Kubernetes platform. You will work across development, security and infrastructure teams to ensure reliability, security and scalable software foundations.

The role requires several years running Kubernetes in production, strong GitOps skills and expertise in observability and incident response.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Kubernetes in production with enterprise distributions.
• Strong GitOps and infrastructure-as-code skills.
• Linux, networking and storage troubleshooting expertise.
• Experience in regulated environments, or willingness to work in one.
• Fluent English; Italian a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, operate and evolve Rancher-managed RKE2 clusters.
• Automate infrastructure and delivery with Terraform, Helm, Argo CD and GitOps.
• Engineer core platform services: networking, ingress, storage, secrets, observability, disaster recovery.
• Improve observability with Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana, Loki, Tempo and OpenTelemetry.
• Lead incident response with root-cause analysis and long-term fixes.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to colleagues.

Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer & Technical Lead

Introduction

Are you passionate about building and operating Kubernetes platforms at scale? Do you enjoy diving deep into complex technical challenges, from low-level troubleshooting to platform architecture? And are you someone who enjoys taking ownership, driving technical excellence and helping other engineers grow? If so, we are looking for you!

As a hands-on Kubernetes Platform Engineer with technical leadership responsibilities, you will own the design, operation and continuous improvement of our enterprise Kubernetes platform, which supports mission-critical financial services in a PCI DSS-regulated environment.

This role combines deep technical expertise with technical leadership. Whether you are tracing a production incident down to the kernel, shaping the platform architecture or mentoring fellow engineers, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact. Working closely with development, security and infrastructure teams, you will help ensure that our platform is reliable, secure and a great foundation for building software. The position is available immediately or by mutual agreement.

Responsibilities

• Design, operate and evolve Rancher-managed RKE2 clusters: provisioning, upgrades, capacity planning, troubleshooting and lifecycle management.
• Automate infrastructure and application delivery with Terraform, Helm, Argo CD and GitOps practices.
• Engineer core platform services: networking, ingress, storage, secrets management, observability and disaster recovery.
• Build and improve observability with Dynatrace, Splunk, but also Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana, Loki, Tempo and OpenTelemetry.
• Lead the response to complex production incidents across Kubernetes, Linux and storage, with a focus on root-cause analysis and long-term fixes rather than workarounds.
• Provide technical leadership, architectural guidance and mentoring to colleagues.

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on experience running Kubernetes in production, ideally RKE2 and Rancher or a comparable enterprise distribution.
• Knowledge of SRE principles and strong GitOps and infrastructure-as-code skills (Terraform, Helm, Argo CD).
• Solid Linux, networking and storage troubleshooting skills.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes security and modern observability.
• Experience working in a regulated environment, or the willingness and discipline to work in one.
• Fluent English. and Italian is a plus.
