Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Data API Engineer based in Switzerland to enhance a PostgreSQL-powered Data API used by developers worldwide. You will contribute to PostgREST, optimize the Postgres driver (Hasql), and help scale a multitenant, open-source API platform.

You will collaborate with a globally distributed team, resolve performance bottlenecks, and improve observability to ensure API reliability. Strong Haskell skills and a passion for PostgreSQL are essential.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of professional experience with Haskell.
• Experience using C programming language and system-level code.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL, including PL/pgSQL scripts.
• Experience debugging applications in Linux environments.
• Track record of contributing to open-source projects; open-source experience is a plus.
• Experience providing technical support to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; identifying performance bottlenecks.

Responsibilities

• Improve database connectivity: optimize the PostgreSQL driver (Hasql) for better performance.
• Develop Data API capabilities: contribute to PostgREST and enable multitenant features.
• Enhance reliability and performance: diagnose incidents and improve system stability.
• Strengthen observability: improve monitoring and diagnostics.
• Handle technical incidents: resolve issues and reduce recurrence.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to troubleshoot integration issues.
• Support developers and users with clear solutions.
• Contribute to open-source: participate in tooling and infrastructure improvements.
• Drive continuous improvement of code quality and architecture.
