Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Staff Backend Software Engineer based in Switzerland for a remote-first, highly distributed transaction platform. You will design, build, and scale core components using Go and PostgreSQL, while guiding architecture decisions and ensuring auditability in a regulated environment.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and compliance teams, and help integrate AI coding agents into daily development.

Qualifications

• Typically 8+ years of backend engineering experience delivering end-to-end projects.
• Strong distributed systems design with asynchronous processing and fault handling.
• Proficient in Go; or solid production experience with Java, Kotlin, Rust, or C#, with intent to ship Go soon.
• Deep PostgreSQL knowledge including schema design, migrations, and multi-tenant data.
• Practical cloud experience with AWS or GCP; read/modify Terraform and use traces/logs for troubleshooting.
• Experience with AI coding agents to guide development and ensure safe production code.
• Excellent written communication in a remote, docs-driven environment.
• Security fundamentals for data in transit and at rest.
• Familiarity with crypto, blockchain concepts, DIDs, ISO standards, or related compliance topics.
• Open to candidates from diverse backgrounds, including career breaks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core components of a distributed transaction platform.
• Build resilient systems ensuring data correctness, tenant isolation, and auditability.
• Improve scalability while maintaining latency and database performance.
• Produce clear technical design documents and review architectures.
• Integrate AI coding agents into daily workflows to improve specs and reviews.
• Collaborate with product, compliance, and customer teams to meet regulatory needs.
• Take end-to-end ownership of production systems including tracing and incident response.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations for platform reliability.
