Job summary

Lonza Group Ltd. in Basel—an experienced Plant Engineer will ensure reliable operation of lab equipment and facility systems, driving preventive maintenance and compliance within GMP frameworks.

You will lead root-cause investigations, manage changes, deviations and CAPAs, and maintain critical documentation. The role requires a degree in engineering and experience in regulated industries, with strong communication in English and German.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Biomedical, Industrial or similar).
• Experience in engineering roles within pharmaceutical or other regulated industries.
• Knowledge of equipment lifecycle management, project execution and maintenance practices.
• Experience in GMP-regulated environments and quality systems.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment, automation technologies, or computerized systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliable operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and facility systems through preventive maintenance programs.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause investigations for critical equipment failures.
• Own and support Change Controls, CAPAs, Deviations, and Risk Assessments related to engineering systems.
• Maintain engineering documentation including equipment records, drawings, specifications, and SOPs.
• Serve as SME during internal and regulatory audits and inspections.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance reliability and compliance.
