Job summary

Lonza in Basel Stücki, Switzerland, invites applications for a Plant Engineer to support the reliable operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and facility systems. You will lead preventive maintenance, troubleshoot critical equipment, and manage Change Controls, CAPAs, Deviations, and risk assessments in GMP-regulated settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Engineering.
• Experience in engineering roles within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, or other regulated industries.
• Knowledge of equipment lifecycle management, project execution, and maintenance practices.
• Experience working within GMP-regulated environments and quality systems.
• Familiarity with computerized systems, automation technologies, or laboratory equipment is an advantage.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication skills with excellent command of English and German, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliable operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and facility systems through preventive maintenance.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause investigations for critical equipment failures.
• Own and support Change Controls, CAPAs, Deviations, and Risk Assessments related to engineering systems.
• Maintain engineering documentation including equipment records, drawings, specifications, SOPs, etc.
• Act as the Engineering SME during internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that enhance reliability, compliance, efficiency, and sustainability.
