Job summary

Lonza Group is seeking a Plant Engineer for our Basel site to maintain and improve critical lab and facility equipment. The role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, change controls, CAPAs, and robust documentation to support GMP-compliant operations.

You will work in a collaborative environment with strong emphasis on safety, quality, and continuous improvement, engaging with cross-functional teams and audits. English and German proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in engineering in a relevant discipline.
• Experience in engineering roles within pharmaceutical or other regulated industries.
• Knowledge of lifecycle management, project execution and maintenance practices.
• Experience in GMP-regulated environments and quality systems.
• Strong communication skills with English and German (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliable operation and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment and facility systems.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause investigations for critical equipment failures.
• Own and support Change Controls, CAPAs, Deviations, and Risk Assessments.
• Maintain engineering documentation including equipment records, drawings and SOPs.
• Act as SME during internal, customer, and regulatory inspections.
• Identify and implement improvements to reliability, compliance, and efficiency.
