Job summary

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Interpreter role is based in Afghanistan, with mobile assignments across various sites. The position focuses on accurate interpretation between English and Pashto and/or Dari, supporting confidential interviews, family messages, and detention-related dialogue.

Required are C1 level English and Pashto and/or Dari, plus 2 years of relevant experience. University education in interpretation is an advantage; strong cultural sensitivity and

Qualifications

• English Pashto and/or Dari at C1 level is required.
• Experience in interpretation or translation is an advantage.
• 2 years of professional experience in relevant roles.
• Willingness to work in humanitarian contexts and challenging environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide oral interpretation between Pashto/Dari and English during confidential interviews and other interactions.
• Translate Pashto/Dari materials into English and vice versa as needed.
• Analyze conditions related to detention, security and humanitarian contexts and report findings.
• Support other protection activities as required.
