Job summary

Johnson & Johnson in Switzerland seeks an Associate Development Engineer to help develop orthopedic implants and surgical instruments. Working in a cross‑functional team, you will translate clinical needs into engineering solutions and support products through their lifecycle.

You will collaborate with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing and Marketing to define requirements, contribute to Design Control documentation, and assist in testing and validation within MDR/FDA frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Experience with design controls and medical device development is advantageous.
• Knowledge of biomechanics, anatomy or biology is beneficial.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to manage priorities.
• Willingness to work with wet tissue/cadaver specimens and in an operating room environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of new implants and surgical instrumentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to define product and design requirements.
• Support development of engineering concepts, drawings, prototypes and documentation.
• Contribute to mechanical testing, verification and validation activities.
• Support product development and documentation in compliance with MDR, FDA Design Controls and quality requirements.
• Participate in clinician interactions to support product development and modifications.
• Support design and process changes, production transfers, cost-improvement initiatives and quality/compliance activities.
• Participate in complaint and field investigations to support patient and customer safety.
